Provocation (Situated) is an embodied pictorial re-presentation of performance acts performed by ARTIFACTS – Pam Patterson & Leena Raudvee (performers), Joanna Black (performer/writer) and Miklos Legrady (performer/photographer). “The work marks a conceptual and visual tension and messiness that can occur among bodies in dialogue and in an aesthetic space. Our intent was to avoid the assumed objectivity of archival activity, making both photographer and writer complicit in text and image making. In this feminist exhibition, this image speaks to a cacophony of politics-as-gesture.
